Saturday, August 3 –  Jacqui Hope and David Norum – The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows describes anemoia as “nostalgia for a time you’ve never known. “ In her 20s, Jaqui Hope was given an old Chevy with a tape deck and nothing but Ella Fitzgerald, Patsy Cline and Edith Piaf recordings. Since she lived in Big Sur and found herself driving hours at a stretch, an introduction to the American Songbook was secured, and took hold in her psyche. While she has recorded and performed many genres, she feels most at home with the standards of her grandparents’ life and era.
